Nineteen Seventy-One witnessed a transition in the ground war with South Vietnam taking responsibility for the conduct of the war while American Units started returning to the United States. Travel with Lieutenant Cory as he and three other crews are attached to the 223^rd Assault Helicopter Battalion and serve in the biggest battle that Army Aviation has ever participated in. Seven hundred and twenty-five US helicopters enter the battle on day one; forty-five days later only eighteen of those aircraft do not have battle damage. This one battle changed the tactics, training and equipment that propelled US Army Aviation into the 21^st Century and made it what it is today, the premier helicopter force in the world.
